It’s almost like an annually recurring fairy tale – setting aside the fact that this is an actual occurrence we get to enjoy during each Festival: For a week of relaxed work vibes, filled with countless chances for inspiration and mutual exchange, recorder player Maurice Steger and his team turn the Hotel Ermitage in Gstaad-Schönried into the ideal backdrop for the Gstaad Baroque Academy. The concert featuring all teachers has now become an annual tradition as well: In the Zweisimmen Church, just before the grand finale of Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy 2024, the audience is invited to take a musical journey through the golden age of the Baroque in Italy (featuring Mancini, Vivaldi, Merula, and Corelli), with a detour to Madrid, where, at that time, some Italian musicians, including Andrea Falconiero (commonly known as Falconieri), were making a mark.
