Wenn Maurice Steger zur Blockflöte greift, wird Musik zur Magie. Der charismatische Star der Alten Musik entfacht gemeinsam mit Hille Perl, Azul Lima und Sebastian Wienand ein barockes Klangfest, das tief in die musikalische Seele Schwedens eintaucht. Im Fokus: Stockholm – Stadt der Gegensätze, der Geschichte, der Inspiration. Die Werke dieses Abends stammen aus einer der faszinierendsten musikalischen Schatzkammern Europas: der Düben-Sammlung. Sie bewahrt Klänge, die einst an den Höfen Stockholms erstrahlten – darunter an jenem der legendären Königin Christina, die als Mäzenin und Freigeist Musiker aus ganz Europa anzog. Für sie schrieb Angelo Michele Bartolotti seine elegante Theorben-Suite voller Raffinesse und königlicher Anmut. Neben musikalischen Perlen von Arcangelo Corelli, Gottfried Finger und Philipp Heinrich Erlebach glänzen vor allem die Kompositionen von Johan Helmich Roman – dem schwedischen »Händel« – in ihrer nordischen Klarheit und Ausdruckskraft. Dieses Konzert ist eine Einladung zum Staunen, Träumen und Eintauchen in eine Welt, in der Musik und Geschichte auf sinnlichste Weise verschmelzen.

When Maurice Steger picks up his recorder, music becomes magic. Together with Hille Perl, Azul Lima and Sebastian Wienand, the charismatic star of early music ignites a baroque feast of sound that delves deep into the musical soul of Sweden. The focus: Stockholm – a city of contrasts, history and inspiration. The works performed this evening come from one of Europe’s most fascinating musical treasure troves: the Düben Collection. It preserves sounds that once resounded in the courts of Stockholm – including that of the legendary Queen Christina, who attracted musicians from all over Europe as a patron and free spirit. Angelo Michele Bartolotti wrote his elegant theorbo suite full of sophistication and royal grace for her. Alongside musical gems by Arcangelo Corelli, Gottfried Finger and Philipp Heinrich Erlebach, the compositions of Johan Helmich Roman – the Swedish ‘Handel’ – shine in particular with their Nordic clarity and expressiveness. This concert is an invitation to marvel, dream and immerse yourself in a world where music and history merge in the most sensual way.
