Maurice Steger has already had a busy academic year and is now continuing it with a series of interesting masterclasses and workshops.
The recorder player has just returned from a tour of Asia. He taught and performed at National Taiwan Tsing Hua University. The masterclass at the Recorder Festival was a resounding success. Many individual lessons, seminars and workshops are also taking place at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Nuremberg. The City of Zurich’s music camp at the MKZ Music Centre in Zurich achieved a new record attendance of over 135 young, selected musicians. In early June, Maurice Steger will be teaching at Colorado State University, and in September and October there will be workshops in Bhutan, Taiwan, China and Malaysia. The Gstaad Baroque Academy will take a break in 2026.
We present the upcoming projects:
1.) Masterclass Recorder and Ancient Music in Arosa (CH) – Juli 3-9
In the picturesque Grisons mountain village of Arosa, a summer course featuring two final concerts will take place once again in 2026. We look forward to welcoming another group of enthusiastic and talented people to our village this year. This time, the course will kick off with a concert featuring Maurice Steger and his musician friends Sebastian Bohren and Martin Zimmermann.
2.) Junior Baroque Academy in Zürich (CH) – October 12-16
The Junior Academy is an intensive week-long masterclass programme for talented young musicians aged 11 to 18 (pre-college). Under the artistic direction of Maurice Steger, participants will explore the diversity of the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical repertoires in an inspiring environment. This year, all Baroque instruments, such as the recorder, Baroque violin and harpsichord, are eligible.
3.) Ascona Baroque Academy (CH) – September 22-27
A new project by the Baroque orchestra Il Pomo d’Oro and Maurice Steger (recorder, chamber music, Baroque orchestra) is attracting attention: the Baroque Academy takes place in idyllic Ticino and invites students, young professionals and concert musicians aged between 18 and 35. Together with the tutors from the Baroque orchestra Il Pomo d’Oro, who will lead the Baroque string sections, Maurice Steger will take charge of the recorder players, chamber musicians and orchestral conducting. At ClassicAscona, highly specialised young musicians have the opportunity to come together for in-depth guidance, intensive tuition, Baroque orchestra sessions, rehearsals and concerts. The application deadline is 30 June.

A warm welcome to our education projects!
