Maurice Steger had the pleasure and honor to pay tribute to the three great German baroque composers Bach, Handel and Telemann in the two famous Baroque churches of Eisenach and Gotha. Together with the Thuringia Philharmonic Orchestra Gotha – Eisenach, Steger created impressive concerts with great works. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 1, Telemann’s Concerto for three trumpets or the intimate recorder concerto by Handel sounded as authentic as they did atmospheric in these rooms.
Maurice Steger and the orchestra together conjured up emotional highlights at the beginning of the new season.
And then came Beethoven. The wonderful Max Littmann Hall in Bad Kissingen is visually and acoustically one of the most outstanding concert halls in existence. And this promoted the dialogues, the tragedy, the musical colors and the concertante in the music of Ludwig van Beethoven up to pianissimo. Maurice Steger conducted the Staatsbad Philharmonie Kissingen in a classic-modern program: in addition to two overtures (Fidelio & Egmont) and Beethoven’s First Symphony, the program included Anton Heberle’s Recorder Concerto and the Suite concertante by the French-Swiss composer Rodolphe Schacher. The Kissinger ensemble performed magnificently in the traditional salon orchestra setting of 14 musicians.
Again and again impulses from the individual soloists of the orchestra, then again from Steger – a brilliant cooperation made the evening in Bad Kissingen heartwarming and unforgettable.
