Christmas concerts with Maurice Steger

Experience the Christmas Concert 2021 on NDR Kultur at home in your living room.
Maurice Steger interprets fantastic works from the Baroque era, conducting the highly motivated and inspiring NDR Radiophilharmonie in Johann Sebastian Bach’s first Brandenburg Concerto, Ricercar a 6 from the Musical Offering and a festive concerto for three trumpets, oboes, timpani and orchestra by Georg Philipp Telemann. In between these orchestral works, the maestro will take up his recorders and play for you the virtuosic, playful C Major Recorder Concerto by Telemann and the majestic G Minor Concerto by Handel. The Ciaccona by Philipp Jakob Rittler rounds off this concert with improvised sounds, trumpet melodies and beautiful moments.

Listen to the Christmas concert on 24 December at 10 p.m. on NDR Kultur.

Experience the duo Maurice Steger (recorder) and Martin Stadtfeld (piano) live in the new Andermatt Concert Hall in the Swiss Alps.
The two artists will perform a Christmas programme with Bach’s G minor Sonata, Stadtfeld’s 11 Christmas Pieces, Handel’s A minor Sonata, G. Sammartini’s energetic G major Sonata with the Flautino and Handel arias arranged for this evening. The two artists have already celebrated the unusual instrumentation of recorder and piano – how beautifully this plays together became clear in these concert events – together a few times this year and are looking forward to experiencing the Christmas concert ‘Baroque’ together with you.

Visit the concert in Andermatt on 27 September at 7.00 p.m.
